CEN 02/2025 is the Centralised Employment Notice issued by the Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) for Technician Grade I Signal posts in the Signal & Telecommunication (S&T) department of Indian Railways. It is a 7th CPC Pay Level 5 Group C technical post (initial pay ₹29,200 + DA + HRA + other allowances; total in-hand around ₹42,000-46,000/month at start).

Approximately 6238 vacancies were notified across all 21 RRBs and zonal Railways / Production Units. Eligibility was three-year Diploma in Engineering (Electronics & Communication / Electronics & Telecommunication / Information Technology / Electronics / Computer Science) OR Bachelor's degree in the same disciplines OR ITI in Electronics with specific trade.

The CBT was held on 13 March 2026:

• Duration: 90 minutes (120 min for scribe-eligible candidates)
• Total questions: 100 (objective, multiple choice)
• Negative marking: 1/3 (0.33) marks deducted per wrong answer
• Sections: Mathematics — 25, General Intelligence & Reasoning — 25, Basic Science & Engineering — 40, General Awareness — 10
• Minimum % qualifying: UR/EWS 40%, OBC(NCL) 30%, SC 30%, ST 25% (relaxable by 2 marks for PwBD if shortage)

For each RRB, the cut-off table breaks down the qualifying CBT marks (out of 100, normalised) by:

• Rly/PU — Railway / Production Unit code under that RRB. Each RRB recruits for multiple zonal Railways (CR, SR, ER, NR, SECR, SWR, NCR, etc.) and Production Units (ICF, RCF, CLW, etc.). Cutoffs differ per Rly/PU based on vacancies and candidate competition.
• Community columns: UR (Unreserved), SC, ST, OBC (NCL), EWS, ESM (Ex-Servicemen), plus 10 PwBD sub-categories (R-VI/HI/LD/OD/MD for Regular and B-VI/HI/LD/OD/MD for Backlog disability slots).

Marks are normalised (out of 100) across multi-session CBT to ensure parity across shifts of varying difficulty.

Unlike JE (which uses CBT-1 only for shortlisting), Technician Grade I Signal has a single-stage CBT. The CBT marks alone decide final merit. Per the Merit Index formula (Para 13.4 of CEN):

Merit Index = S_q + (S − S_q) × (M − M_q) / (M_t − M_q)

• M = candidate's normalised marks (multi-session CBT)
• M_q = UR qualifying marks = 40
• M_t = mean marks of top 0.1% (or top 10) of candidates
• S_q = score assigned to M_q = 350
• S = score assigned to M_t = 900

1. CBT (Computer Based Test) — single stage, screening + scoring. 100 questions, 90 minutes, 1/3 negative marking.
2. Document Verification (DV) — at the RRB-allotted venue. Carry valid photo ID, original 10th/12th/ITI/Diploma certificates, caste cert if applicable, recent passport photographs.
3. Medical Examination — at the nominated Railway Hospital, normally the next day after DV. Standard A-3 medical category for Technician Grade I Signal.
4. Final Empanelment & appointment letter from concerned Zonal Railway.

Department: Signal & Telecommunication (S&T), Indian Railways. Front-line technical staff responsible for:

• Installation, testing and maintenance of railway signalling equipment (point machines, signals, track circuits, axle counters, interlocking systems)
• Maintenance of telecommunication systems (control communication, OFC, microwave, train radio)
• Fault rectification and routine inspections of S&T equipment at field locations and stations
• Assisting Senior Section Engineers in commissioning new installations and modifications

The role involves shift duties, field deployment along the railway track, and 24×7 availability for fault rectification. Eligible for technical allowances, running allowance (in some categories), and standard railway perks (residential quarters, free medical, pass facility, etc.).

Each RRB publishes its own Result + Cut-Off PDFs on its official website. As soon as a new RRB declares, this page auto-updates with the direct download links for both Result and Cutoff PDFs. If your RRB still shows "Awaiting", check back tomorrow — most RRBs declare within 1-3 days of each other.

1. Visit your RRB website and log in with Registration No + DoB to view your CBT individual score-card and qualifying status (typically available from the result declaration date for ~15 days).
2. Download the e-Call letter for DV & Medical from your RRB website when intimated.
3. Report at the DV venue on the scheduled date with all original certificates and photocopies.
4. Undergo medical examination at the nominated Railway Hospital (usually the next day after DV). Travel from RRB to hospital city if different.
5. Be prepared for DV + Medical for 3+ days as the process may extend over multiple days depending on the queue and your category.
