This is the CBT Result + Cut-Off for CBAT shortlist. Candidates whose roll numbers appear in the Result PDF are provisionally shortlisted for CBAT (Computer Based Aptitude Test) at the rate of 8 times the vacancies. They are NOT yet finally selected. Final selection happens only after CBAT + DV + Medical Examination clearance, with a combined merit of 70% CBT + 30% CBAT.
Per Point 7 of the CBT result notice, the Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) for provisionally qualified candidates of CEN 04/2025 is tentatively scheduled on 24.05.2026 (Sunday).
Note: Date is tentative and may shift; final confirmation will come through the e-call letter / official intimation.
CEN 04/2025 is the Centralised Employment Notice issued by Indian Railways for the post of Section Controller — a single Pay Level 6 (₹35,400) Graduate post. Total 368 vacancies across all 21 Railway Recruitment Boards. RRB-wise vacancies are listed in Annexure-B of the detailed notification.
Eligibility: University Degree (any discipline). Age 20-33 years as on 01-01-2026. Medical Standard A-2.
Today's announcement is the 1st Stage CBT Result + Zone-wise Cut-Off Marks for shortlisting candidates to the next stage — CBAT. The shortlisting is at 1:8 ratio of vacancies (i.e., 8 candidates shortlisted per vacancy).
Section Controller is a safety-critical post; hence the higher Medical Standard A-2. As per Para 3.0 of CEN 04/2025 (and Chapter 5 of the Indian Railway Medical Manual, Vol-I):
| Parameter | A-2 Requirement |
|---|---|
| General fitness | Physically fit in all respects |
| Distant Vision | 6/9, 6/9 without glasses (No fogging test) |
| Near Vision | Sn 0.6, 0.6 without glasses |
| Colour Vision | Must pass |
| Binocular Vision | Must pass |
| Night Vision | Must pass |
| Myopic Vision | Must pass |
⚠️ LASIK / Refractive surgery — NOT eligible: Candidates who have undergone LASIK or any other surgical procedure to correct refractive error are not eligible for posts with Medical Standard A-2 (Para 3.1, Note (b) of CEN).
Note: The above standard is indicative, not exhaustive. Different standards apply to Ex-Servicemen (Para 534 of IRMM Vol-I). If you fail the prescribed medical at the time of empanelment, no alternate post will be offered. A medical appeal is permitted within the prescribed window on payment of fee.
Per Annexure-B of the detailed CEN 04/2025 notification, the 368 Section Controller vacancies are distributed across 21 RRBs and the Railway Zones they recruit for, as below:

For DV/Final selection, only candidates who pass CBAT are considered. Final merit is computed as:
Marks shown in the cutoff PDF are normalised CBT marks (because CBT was conducted in multiple shifts).
If your roll number appears in the Result PDF for your RRB, you have qualified the CBT and are provisionally called for CBAT. You'll get the CBAT date, time and venue intimation through your registered email/SMS and the official RRB website. Bring your e-call letter, valid photo ID, and follow all banned-item rules at the test centre.
Yes. 1/3 (0.33) marks were deducted for each wrong answer in CBT. No negative marking is applied to questions left unattempted.
RRB conducts CBT in multiple sessions/shifts because of the candidate volume. To make merit fair across shifts of varying difficulty, RRB applies a standard score normalisation formula. The values you see in the cut-off table are normalised marks, not raw marks. Don't compare your raw score directly to these cut-offs — your normalised score is what counts.
Pay: 7th CPC Pay Level 6, initial pay ₹35,400 + DA + HRA + other allowances. Total in-hand around ₹50,000-55,000 per month at start, depending on city.
Role: A Section Controller in Indian Railways is responsible for the safe and timely movement of trains across an assigned section. Working in shifts at the Divisional Control Office, they coordinate with station masters, loco pilots and operations teams to manage train running, dispatching, crossings, and emergencies. It's an operationally critical, technical post — hence the CBAT (aptitude) requirement.
CBAT is the Computer Based Aptitude Test — a psycho-aptitude assessment that tests qualities essential for safety-critical Railway operations: memory, concentration, perceptual speed, depth perception, attention to detail, decision making. CBAT is qualifying-cum-scoring; you must clear it to be eligible for the final merit list.
Unlike RRB NTPC which has multiple posts (Cat 1-5: GTM, ASM, CCTC, JAA, SCT), CEN 04/2025 has only one post — Section Controller. Hence the cut-off table shows just Cat 1 with no Railway-Zone column, since selection is RRB-wide for this single post.

Each RRB publishes its own Result + Cut-Off PDFs on their official website. As soon as a new RRB declares, this page auto-updates with the direct download links for both Result and Cut-Off PDFs. If your RRB still shows "Awaiting", check back tomorrow — most RRBs declare within 1-3 days of each other.
Yes. CBAT typically follows the CBT shortlist within 4-8 weeks. Use this time to prepare CBAT-specific topics:
RRB CBAT (T-Score normalised) requires minimum 42 in each test battery for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD and minimum 42 in each + 70% composite T-score for UR/EWS to qualify. The CBAT score then contributes 30% to your final merit.
Question-objection windows close before the result is published. Once CBT result is out (today), there is no provision for re-evaluation of CBT marks. The result and cut-off published by RRB is final for CBT. If your RRB's notice mentions an objection-tracker for technical errors in result-portal display, follow that — but normalised marks themselves are not subject to challenge at this stage.
