UPPSC RO needs only a Bachelor’s degree. ARO needs a Bachelor’s degree, an ‘O’ Level certificate and 25 wpm Hindi typing. RO/ARO (Account) need a B.Com with Accountancy and ‘O’ Level in Computer Application.

- Hindi typing for ARO: minimum 25 words per minute in Hindi typewriting (Advocate General office: Hindi typing on computer). English typing gets preference.
- Typing test: the notification lists typing speed as an essential qualification for ARO. It does not describe a separate typing test stage or its date.
- Preference (all posts): 2 years in the Territorial Army or an NCC ‘B’ certificate, other things being equal.
- Option for specific-qualification posts: give your options clearly in the form to be considered for posts with specific qualifications.
- Cut-off for qualification: you must hold every qualification by the last date of application. Candidates still appearing in the qualifying exam are not eligible.
- Equivalence: graduate equivalence follows the G.O. dated 19.07.2023; ‘O’ Level equivalence follows the G.O. dated 05.05.2022.
- Domicile: anyone eligible can apply, but reservation and age relaxation are only for permanent residents of U.P.
- Marital status: a married man with more than one living wife, or a woman married to a man who already has a wife, is not eligible without an exemption from the Governor.

UPPSC RO ARO Selection Process 2026
UPPSC RO ARO 2026 selection has two exams: an objective Preliminary exam and a descriptive Main (Written) exam. The final selection is on the total marks of the Main exam.

- Mains shortlist: fifteen times the number of vacancies are declared successful in the prelims.

- Minimum standard: 35% for SC/ST and 40% for other categories in the prelims/mains; below that you are not placed in the merit or select list.
- Interview and typing test: neither is described as a stage in the notification.
- CM Fellowship weightage: research scholars of the Chief Minister Fellowship Programme get extra marks in the mains (table below).

The prelims is one objective paper of 200 questions in 3 hours (General Studies 140 + General Hindi 60). The mains has 4 descriptive papers of 200 marks each (800 marks).

- OTR: register on otr.pariksha.nic.in and get your OTR number at least 72 hours before you submit the application. Fill your category and sub-category correctly in OTR; the form copies it.
- Open uppsc.up.nic.in > All Notifications/Advertisements and read the User Instructions and the advertisement.
- Stage 1: click Apply > Authenticate with O.T.R. > tick Yes > enter the OTR number > authenticate by OTP (mobile/email) or OTR password. Your OTR details load; fill the essential qualification.
- Stage 2: on the Applicant Dashboard click Submit Details under Application Part-2 and answer Yes/No for each preferential qualification.
- Stage 3: Proceed for fee payment on SBI MOPS (net banking, card or other modes) and print the Payment Transaction Slip.
