⚠️ Important — what does today's announcement actually mean?
This is the DV (Document Verification) Shortlist + Cutoff, not the Final Joining/Selection list. Candidates whose roll numbers appear in the result PDF are provisionally shortlisted for Document Verification and Medical Examination. Final selection happens after DV + Medical clearance.
Cat 2 & Cat 3 (Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Junior Clerk cum Typist) are not yet declared — these posts require a qualifying Typing Skill Test (TST), which is processed separately and will be released later.
📝 What does Cat 1 / Cat 2 / Cat 3 / Cat 4 mean?
RRB groups posts by an internal Category number. In CEN 06/2024 (Undergraduate):
Cat 1 = Commercial cum Ticket Clerk — Pay Level 3 (₹21,700); selection based on CBT marks, no TST
Cat 2 = Accounts Clerk cum Typist — Pay Level 2 (₹19,900); Typing Skill Test (TST) qualifying
Cat 3 = Junior Clerk cum Typist — Pay Level 2 (₹19,900); Typing Skill Test (TST) qualifying
Cat 4 = Trains Clerk — Pay Level 2 (₹19,900); selection based on CBT marks, no TST
📖 Refer your RRB's official notice for the exact post-to-Cat mapping — some RRBs may differ.
📌 What's next for shortlisted candidates?
Document Verification (DV): Carry all original certificates. The DV process verifies your educational qualifications (12th / qualifying), age proof, category certificate, and other claims made during application.
Medical Examination: Pass the medical fitness test as per the Visual Acuity standard for your post (refer Para 3.0 of CEN 06/2024).
Final Selection: Subject to passing DV + Medical, your name will appear in the final panel. Final result is a separate notification.
Travel: SC/ST candidates can avail Free Travel Pass for DV. Check your RRB's notice.

Why only Cat 1 and Cat 4 today? When will Cat 2 & 3 release?
Cat 2 (Accounts Clerk cum Typist) and Cat 3 (Junior Clerk cum Typist) require a qualifying Typing Skill Test. Once the TST is conducted and processed, RRBs release those category cutoffs and result PDFs separately — typically within a few weeks of the main result. Watch your RRB's website.
Negative marking applies in CBT-1 and CBT-2 (1/3 mark deducted for each wrong answer). When CBTs are conducted in multiple sessions, marks are normalized using the standard normalization formula. The values you see in the cutoff tables are normalized marks, not raw marks.
Why does one RRB show multiple Railway Zones (e.g., ECR + SER for Ranchi)?
Each Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) serves multiple Zonal Railways. For example, RRB Ranchi recruits for both East Central Railway (ECR) and South Eastern Railway (SER); RRB Kolkata for Eastern Railway (ER) and SER; RRB Bilaspur for South East Central Railway (SECR) and Central Railway (CR). The cutoff table shows each Railway Zone separately because vacancies and merit lists are zone-specific.
